2024 Recreational Church League Rules


** Church league will acknowledge WSL Slow-pitch Rules with the below modifications**


- Time Limit

a. 1:00 hour time limit with a ten minute grace period before game, but try to start on time. If your team is not ready to play at assigned times, following the 10 minute grace period, your team will forfeit the game and there will be no make up.


- Bat Rule:
a. Approved bats will be any of the bats listed below:


- “Flip Flop” Rule:
a. In the event of a run rule situation, the losing team will continue to bat their portion of the next inning before taking the field for that inning. If they are not able to score enough runs to keep from being “run ruled” then the game will be over.


b. In the final inning of the game, not counting a “run rule” situation, if the Home team is losing they will continue to bat their portion of the next inning before taking the field for that inning. If they are not able to at least tie the game then the game will be over.


- Batting:
a. When a batter comes to the plate he or she will have a one ball, one strike count.
b. No “free foul”
c. Once the batting order has been established no changes can be made. Late players will be added at the end of the batting order.
d. Coaches are only permitted to bat players on their lineup for that game. 


- Sliding:
a. A player may slide into any base at their own discretion. However, if there is a play at home plate, the base runner is not permitted to make unnecessary physical contact with the catcher. The catcher is not permitted to block the plate unless they have complete possession of the ball.


- Roster:
a. Players name can only appear on one team roster.
b. Teams may only pick up additional players from other teams, if they do not have enough players to start the game. If any of their players show up to play they must be substituted in the lineup taking the place of one of the added players.
c. A team can play with a minimum of 9 players if your team doesn't have 10 players.
d. All players must be at least 16 year old or a sophomore in high school.
e. To become eligible to play in the end of the season tournament; all teams must submit to the league coordinators, their team’s roster by July 4th.


- Runner Substitution

a.  A courtesy runner for an injured player may enter a contest with approval from the umpire in charge. If a runner is allowed to enter the last batted out will be allowed to run for the injured player.


- Steel Cleats

a.  Are not allowed. If a player uses steel cleats in a game the player will be removed from the game immediately until they can change out their footwear.


- Scorekeeper

a. Home team will be official scorekeeper, but both teams will exchange batting orders and keep score.


- Run Rule

a. 15 runs after four innings of play.

b. 10 runs after five innings of play.

 

- Home Run

a. No more than 3 home runs will be scored per game.  All other home runs will be considered an out.

 

- Umpire

a. The plate umpire ruling will be final.


- Game balls

a. The league will provide game balls to each game.


- Make up games

a. Will be coordinated with the league coordinators at 513-260-0602.
